I met with each of my students today to go over their progress towards their first Accelerated Reader goal. Each child was given a sticker to remind them of how many total points they need to earn by mid January, as well as how many points they have earned so far. Please check in with your child about their progress. I want to see all of my students earn the January AR celebration!
This week our class is reading How Night Came From the Sea, which is a Brazillian porquoi tale. We are also still reading The Flunking of Joshua T. Bates. We should be able to finish that novel this week.
It is very important that your child practice their multiplication facts at home. If they have not mastered their facts yet, please have them practice daily. Many of the math concepts we are working on in 4th grade rely on them knowing their basic facts up to 12*12. We have discussed using flash cards (which they can make at home with index cards), as well as practicing math games, or being quizzed by someone at home.
Please remember to check and sign your child's planner every night. This is your way of checking in to let me know that your child is showing you what they are responsible for.
If you can donate a box of tissues or a container of disinfectant wipes we would greatly appreciate it!
Reminder: Library is every Tuesday during our ELA centers time.
